SOUND OF MUSIC

for kids

COVID has negatively impacted our economy and many homes within our community. With depression and anxiety at an all time high - many families are struggling just to survive. However, where there is a shadow there is a light. Thankfully, people are rising up to meet this challenge to support those in need within our community. This summer, companies like Nickel Brook Brewery took to the streets to support and celebrate local businesses, frontline workers and volunteers with some Wicked Awesome gifts. We recently had the privilege of joining Nickel Brook and Long & McQuade to surprise a special 16 year old, Chelsea, on her birthday. Chelsea is a great example of the kind of young person we love to support. For the past few years, Chelsea has been teaching herself how to play guitar and volunteering her musical talent at local fund raisers that support needy families in the Burlington area -  that is until instrument broke. Her family could not afford to fix it and to make matters worse she lost her father to cancer just two weeks before her 16th Birthday. Thanks to the team at Long & McQuade who partnered with us to supply Chelsea with a brand new Taylor Guitar and Ukulele - and special thanks to Nickel Brook Brewing, Zesty Pita, Tim Hortons and The Brick Oven for helping give her a birthday party she will never forget :)
